Nana's birthday cake!

Denny has a favorite cake from his mom. During our marriage it is the required birthday cake! On his 60th birthday he was really missing his parents. It was sad. SO! although we don't eat much cake these days I had to make him one to feel better.
A great story was told during our birthday cake break! When he would travel home on the weekends during his Air Force guard days, Mom would make a cake on Saturday and he would take it back to the barracks on Sunday, the next Friday he would take the tupperware container and cake pan back to Mom and she would make the cake on Saturday for Denny to take back to the barracks on Sunday. This went on for a long time. Great memories for him and Mom too I suppose. How we miss her. A very special lady. I'm happy she taught me how to cook Denny's favorite recipes when I was young and she shared lots of great recipes with me. A great mom in love.

my crazy girls!

Last week while we were in San Andres, they built a patio in our back yard. The girls had been in the kennel all week. We picked them up on Saturday and couldn't wait to see how they would run into the yard. We had to keep them on their leashes so that they wouldn't run and hit their heads! I think dogs are smarter than that but I was still worried! It was so fun to watch. They both investigated the new cement. JoJo walked like a little lady up the new stairs. Miss Butler on the other hand ran the wall! It was so cool. She is getting so big and is so smart. We are anxious for her to be trained to guard us and the house, but in the meantime we are enjoying her personality in the back!

August Graduation 2015

Cincel has three graduations each year. April, August and December. Each one is unique, special and emotional. To think that the missionary family doesn't have a fluidity in the Spanish language when they arrive and when they leave Costa Rica, they are able to preach, communicate and minister in their new language brings tons of emotion. This class represents missionaries going to El Salvador, Chili and Honduras.

My Forever Hero is 60!

So hard to believe! I met him when he was young! I was younger! HA! This year has been difficult needless to say so I decided to take him away to one of his favorite places, San Andres. It is an island owned by Colombia. So tranquil, so beautiful, white sandy beaches, great food, and motos to explore the island. In a moto or golf cart you can circle the island in 45-50 minutes. Truly magical. We have taken missions teams there and we have also vacationed there, no time like the present to return. A great excuse to take Denny there. 60 years! Wow!  One of the days we went by boat to two outer islands to snorkel. How I wish I had a waterproof phone for pictures. Absolutely beautiful. I am grateful for Denny. So grateful for life.
