Learning to Cook Costa RIcan and Puertan Rican style!

At CINCEL we endeavor to have Missiology classes that are thought provoking, intellectual, relevant, and worth while to the missionary as they start their new ministry journey. The cooking classes are really relevant!

The class is conducted in Spanish so we learn vocabulary, and the ingredients that go into a typical dish. It is very expensive to eat American style in other countries. The more we can learn about acculturation even in the area of cooking will show benefits in the every day.

It was fun to learn the dishes together and then to eat them too! Meat, Rice, Salad,Beans, Plantains, and even an appetizer of guacamole and chips.

Monthly I host a Chica~Time for the missionary ladies. Today we learned cooking Puerto Rican!
Terry and Freddy are on their way to Guatamala. It has been such a joy to have them at CINCEL! We had hands on experience just like yesterday! We made Pionones, salad, a typical rice, and then for dessert Rice pudding. An appetizer of caramelized papaya with cheese. Oh my, the best!

Terry has an apron ministry. Women's Ministries are making aprons for her to distribute in Guatamala. Not just to distribute, but Terry will go to a home (they are church planters) and ask for the lady of the house, She gives a gift of an apron and then opens the door for relationship. Today she served the missionary ladies and also gave them an apron. What a surprise to all of us.

Our last service, and what a gift it was.

Renee is a children's pastor in Norristown, and she loves it! The pastor of the church, Jonathan, was one of Denn's students in VFCC. He is Spanish and so is his wife. What a delight to be with them. God has called them to the church and what a great job they are doing as new graduates. The people of the church have accepted this young couple and I think that's very commendable. It was really special to see how they treat Renee too, just a really great Wednesday night service! After the service Jacqui brought me a coin purse and said I want you to have this. She asked God to multiply what was in it for His work. Since that was our last service I took the purse in faith with her prayer that indeed God would give us fruit from our 19 days of trying to raise support. I believe God will be faithful as He always is.

Jamaica our other heart home!

Nearly in Ryan and Lauren's apartment is a food truck, not just any food truck! A Jamaican food truck..we had dinner on a park bench one night! What a blast! Kevin is from the island and knew Renee's school and our town. It was really fun to hear Renee so happy speaking Patois with him! The food was TERRIFIC! like always!

New England! our heart home....

With appointments in New England, we were able to include Ryan and Lauren in the trip! So delighted since we hadn't seen them since the wedding. They are doing well and greatly blessed. We stayed in their apartment and enjoyed meals, games and fun together. It was a special blessing to take Renee with us since essentially that would be the only little vacation she would have with her 5 jobs that she holds. We had so much fun and built up our memory tank a little bit more! We celebrated Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and Renee's birthday yet again!
