In a developing nation everything we have is a blessing not a demand. We have a pretty normal (to us as Americans) life here in Costa Rica however there are moments! Like when electricity is cut off without warning, or water is cut off for a whole day, or garbage pickup delays or protests that close the city or taxis that stop running. It can be crazy but expected. It can be frustrating yet expected. It can make the day go wild however if you flow with it, all is well.
These moments can trigger huge culture shock in new missionaries (and sometime old missionaries too :)! If one can stay relaxed and go with it, all will be well. I attend a Bible Study on Thursdays. Last week a few of the Cincel guys came to the house to move dirt and when I drove out of the driveway the gate wouldn't open and I was like.....what!!?? But thank God the guys came to my rescue. They worked a while to get me out! crazy, but I made it! even on time!
