Part of Cincel's curriculum is to celebrate cultural days and fiestas that occur in Costa Rica. Part of living in another country, besides learning the language, is to read and learn culture. In the middle of a fiesta, one is learning and interpreting culture. Seeing it right before their eyes.
One of the things that happen in celebrating Día de Guanacaste, the annexion of Nicoya, is to play Bingo! How fun is that! The markers are frijole beans. Another thing is the typical dance. Another is BOMBA. Little sayings that a husband would say to his wife. Our married students did a great job with their bombas! Typical food is prepared in front of the students. In this fiesta the main food is tortillas. Tortillas with cheese and plain tortillas. Everything so very yummy!
