miss sugar cane!

On Sunday before church we stopped at the market so I could buy my scotch bonnets, thyme, and scallions. While there we saw a man working a sugar cane machine, extracting the juice. Since I am leaving for the U.S. on Friday, Denn said, we need to get Renee some sugar cane. She just loves chewing on that hard stuff!

He went up to the man, the man said Sure I can cut you some. Then he gave it to us for free. How nice was that! We sent a picture to Renee and she said OOOOOOOOOO can't wait!

Naranjo Costa Rica

A few months ago we became acquainted with the 2015 winner of the taste of excellence for coffee. The coffee is truly awesome! My bag was empty. Denn told me after the pumpkin palooza we would drive to the winners coffee plantation to buy more. We were so excited. Besides buying more of the yummy liquid gold, we would enjoy an afternoon excursion. That we did, alas, no coffee purchase. The family went on a paseo Saturday so they weren't home! bummer.
But we had a nice drive, it didn't downpour, now that's a real blessing!

Naranjo is an hour out of San Jose. A beautiful community. I kept saying, man, this place needs an A/G church! Would that be awesome, I might have to make a long drive on Sundays if that happened!
Costa Rica's Catholic churches are so beautiful. Sometimes we go in them just to see the gorgeous stained glass windows.

First Ever Punkin' Palooza!

I love our missionary wives! Each month I try to host a gathering for us girls. The husbands are so wonderful to take charge in the house and with the kids, I really appreciate them. Sometimes we have a cafecito, other times we meet at a restaurant, sometimes in my house. The place isn't important, the fellowship is!

Saturday we had a Pumpkin Palooza. The girls wore autumn colors. To start with we had pumpkin spice lattes while having a devotional. We ate pumpkin dishes and we made autumn crafts. It was so much fun! We made coffee or vanilla sugar scrubs that smell yummy and letter names to make our house pretty!

First Ever Vaca Naranja

Here in Costa Rica we get our icecream at Pops. It's really good. It has stand alone stores like the Dairy Queen and it is also in the mall. There at Pops Denny usually gets a Vaca Negra. What we call a Coke float.

The idea came to me, let's do a float party for the Missionary kids, and parents too! On Friday we transformed the chapel into a vaca Naranja fiesta! Games like hopscotch and bean bag toss, tip the cows over and Twister. Pin the tail on Annabelle and face painting. We also had a photo station. It was terrific and great fun. I think the kids liked having an icecream drink before their dinner!
