Although the government doesn't issue student visas and it becomes a drain, I love the fact that every 90 days the students have to leave the country for 72 hours! We board a bus, take an 7 hour drive to the Panama border, depart, usually takes 1 1/2 hours in customs, then board the bus and drive 30 minutes to David, Panama.
There we stay in the Gran Nacional for 3 days and have a blast! 2 of the CINCEL staff also go on these trips. The administrative assistant and one of the teachers. The classroom becomes away from CINCEL. Although the trip is relaxed, the intention to continue learning is in high gear. Everything is done within those 72 hours to enhance the student's learning of Spanish. And it is great!
It was especially terrific this time because Renee got to go along! Another country for her to see. It was so wonderful for her to see Panama. We were so busy I didn't get pics of Renee on the bus, at Dairy Queen, (the highlight of each visa trip!) or hanging out with the kids, but what a wonderful trip we had!
